Dr. Izhar Jiskani

Biography

Izhar Mithal Jiskani is an educator and interdisciplinary researcher with a passion for sustainability. His current research focuses on impact assessment in mining, particularly emphasizing the role of mining in facilitating energy transition to address climate change. He aims to foster positive change in the mining industry, working towards future practices that are economically viable, socially responsible, and environmentally sustainable. Prior to his current position, he served as Head of the Department of Mining and Mineral Resources at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Pakistan. His academic involvement extends to activities such as serving as an external examiner and subject expert for PhD and master’s theses and participating in university services in advisory roles. His scholarly contributions encompass a range of roles including Associate Editor and Reviewer. Moreover, he prioritizes knowledge dissemination through invited talks and seminars, believing that education and awareness are crucial for creating a sustainable future. His expertise is related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals agreed upon in 2015, contributing to the global agenda of ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring prosperity.
