Biography

J. McKenzie Alexander is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). His research interests encompass evolutionary game theory, decision theory, and the philosophy of social science and society. He authored the book 'Structural Evolution of Morality' published by Cambridge University Press in 2007, as well as 'Evolutionary Game Theory,' which is part of the Elements of Decision Theory and Philosophy series, released in 2023. Additionally, he is the author of 'Open Society Enemy,' a critique of how free societies have evolved, published by LSE Press in 2024 and available as Open Access. His recent articles include 'On Incompleteness in Classical Mechanics' (forthcoming in the British Journal for the Philosophy of Science) and 'Accounting for Groups: Dynamics of Intragroup Deliberation,' co-authored with Dr. Julia Morley, published by Synthese. He has held the position of Head of the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method from 2018 to 2021 and served as an Academic Governor on LSE's Council and Court of Governors from 2013 to 2018.
