Biography

Devin MacKenzie is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington and holds the title of Washington Research Foundation Professor Clean Energy. He has 17 years of experience in research and entrepreneurship in the fields of printable flexible electronic materials and integrated systems. Currently, he is the CEO of Imprint Energy, a UC Berkeley spin-out focused on developing flexible, high-energy batteries through large-area print manufacturing. Previously, he served as the CTO of Add-Vision, Inc., where he led R&D for materials processing in roll-to-roll printed flexible OLED displays. His experience includes initiating and leading the printed Si GHz RF device project at Kovio, Inc., and conducting research at the MIT Media Lab on solution-processed photovoltaics and device nanostructures. He co-founded the company Plastic Logic during his postdoctoral work at the University of Cambridge. MacKenzie has authored 110 patents and publications and holds degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida and MIT. He has received numerous accolades, including being named to the Global Cleantech 100 and recognized as one of the Top 50 Smartest Companies by MIT Technology Review in 2015.
