Biography

J. Rhett Mayor is an Associate Professor in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Natal in Durban, South Africa, in 2001, and has an extensive background in manufacturing and mechanical engineering. Since joining Georgia Tech in 2006, Dr. Mayor has focused on advanced manufacturing processes, especially micro-manufacturing and micro-power generation. His research includes the development of micro-factories capable of true digital manufacturing practices and integrated micro-mechatronics systems. Dr. Mayor's work is supported by various stakeholders, including the National Science Foundation and DARPA. His research interests lie in heat transfer, combustion energy systems, and innovative manufacturing processes.
