Biography

Coyan Tromp is an assistant professor and curriculum developer at the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Amsterdam. In 2007, he co-founded the bachelor program in Future Planet Studies, which combines disciplines to address complex global challenges such as energy, climate change, and resource depletion. Tromp initiates and participates in sustainability projects at both bachelor and master's levels across UvA faculties. He coordinates the teaching for courses in Philosophy of Science and employs project-based learning techniques, including the Reflexive Design Project and the Future Planet Project Scenario Planning. His research interests include blended learning and innovative pedagogical concepts such as flipped classrooms. Previously, he supervised research at the National Expertise Centre for Social Intervention, where he coordinated a Master’s program and served as an editor for scientific journals. Tromp has worked as a consultant in social work and has engaged in transdisciplinary research.
