Biography

Professor Shanthikumar joined the Krannert faculty in 2009. Prior to coming to Purdue, he was Chancellor's Professor of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at the University of California, Berkeley. His research interests include integrated interdisciplinary decision making, model uncertainty learning, production systems modeling and analysis, queueing theory, reliability, scheduling, semiconductor yield management, simulation of stochastic processes, and sustainable supply chain management. He has written or co-written more than 250 papers on these topics, and co-authored a book titled 'Stochastic Models in Manufacturing Systems' with John Buzacott, and another with Moshe Shaked on 'Stochastic Orders and Their Applications'. He is also a co-editor of the Flexible Services & Manufacturing Journal and serves on multiple editorial boards for renowned journals such as Operations Research and IEEE Transactions on Automation Sciences and Engineering. He has consulted extensively with companies including Applied Materials, IBM, KLA-Tencor, and Intel on projects related to advanced micro devices and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
