Biography

Jacinda Sampson received her MD and PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She completed her neurology residency and a neurogenetics fellowship at the University of Utah. Prior to her appointment at Stanford University Medical Center in 2015, she served at Columbia University Medical Center. Her research interests focus on myotonic dystrophies, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and neurogenetic disorders including neurofibromatosis, hereditary spastic paraparesis, and spinocerebellar ataxia. She is interested in clinical trials for the treatment of neurogenetic disorders and the clinical applications of next-generation genomic sequencing and genetic testing. In addition to her clinical work, she is involved in teaching and has received the Stephen Q. Shafer Award for Humanism in Neurology from Columbia University.
