Dr. Jack Andrews

Biography

Jack Andrews is a Senior Research Fellow and Wellcome Early-Career Fellow at the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford, where he leads the Social Mental Health Lab. His research investigates how social environments influence the emergence and maintenance of common mental health problems, utilizing this knowledge to design, evaluate, and improve interventions, particularly focused on adolescence. His work centers on understanding the influence of social networks and peer relationships on adolescent mental health trajectories, as well as the social-cognitive processes that explain why young individuals may be more susceptible to peer influence than others. Andrews employs a combination of behavioral experiments, social network analysis, longitudinal modeling, and randomized controlled trials in his research. Previously, he completed his PhD at University College London and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney. He is affiliated with the Matilda Centre for Mental Health and Substance Use at the University of Sydney and is currently funded by the Wellcome Trust at University College, Oxford.
