Biography

Jack Beazer is a Research Associate at the Glasgow Biomarker Research Unit, University of Glasgow, where his research focuses on lipoprotein metabolism, biomarker discovery, and the application of -omics technologies to understand and predict cardiometabolic and neurological diseases. He completed his BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology and Physiology at the Medway School of Pharmacy, a collaboration between the Universities of Kent and Greenwich. Jack later obtained his MRes in Translational Medicine and his PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences from the University of Glasgow, supported by a four-year studentship from the British Heart Foundation (BHF). His doctoral research explored the composition and function of high-density lipoproteins (HDL) in insulin-resistant states, with a particular focus on vascular health and metabolic dysfunction. Apart from his research, Jack is actively involved in science communication and public engagement, participating in outreach events and school visits to promote STEM education and research careers. He contributes to teaching and marking the MSc module MED5539 - Clinical Research Laboratory Skills, led by Professor Paul Welsh, and has previously served as a tutor for the MSc in Medical Genetics and Genomics in the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing, as well as supervising undergraduate and postgraduate project students in the laboratory.
