Biography

Associate Professor Jack Chen is a health services researcher and statistician with a medical qualification obtained in 1987. He completed his PhD in epidemiology/biostatistics in 1999 and earned an MBA (Executive) from the Australian Graduate School of Management in 2005. He is internationally recognized for his work in evaluating complex system interventions and generating policy-oriented research aimed at improving care quality and research impact. His research includes the development and implementation of rapid response systems (RRS) that have led to worldwide policy changes in the way critical ill patients are managed in medical settings. He has worked in various areas including health services research, public health, health economics, clinical trials, and clinical epidemiology. Dr. Chen is noted for his expertise in methodologies for evaluating complex system interventions, as well as the application of artificial intelligence and deep learning modeling techniques in health data analysis. He played a critical role in the success of the Medical Early Response Intervention & Therapy (MERIT) study, a large-scale randomized controlled trial, and has been awarded multiple NHMRC grants for RRS-related research.
