Dr. Jack Lee

Biography

Jack Lee joined the University of Glasgow in September 2023 as a Senior Lecturer in Higher Education and serves as the programme leader for the MSc in International Comparative Education. His career in education began at the University of British Columbia in Canada, where he designed and delivered international programs and intercultural communication training for students, academics, and professionals from various sectors. His doctoral research focused on the development of education hubs in East and Southeast Asia, examining issues related to talent development, geopolitics, and soft power. Over the years, he has held positions at notable institutions such as Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan and the University of Bath, where he directed a large doctoral program with students from 46 countries. He has also worked with the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology in Germany and the British Columbia Cancer Research Centre. His research interests revolve around the politics of higher education from a comparative and international standpoint. Lee's recent publication critiques the discourse and practices of decolonization in higher education, addressing themes related to social justice, comparative and international education, and policymaking in the Global South.
