Dr. Jack Wu

Biography

Jack Wu is a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manchester, where he has been teaching since 2000. He holds a B.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Mechanics from Hefei University of Technology, China. Prior to his current role, he served as an associate professor at Tsinghua University and has held positions at several prestigious institutions including Shanghai Jiaotong University and Delft University of Technology. His research interests primarily focus on thin-walled structures, fiber reinforced polymer composite structures, and the mechanics of composite materials. He has contributed extensively to the fields of structural response analysis under high strain rates and non-destructive testing of materials. Additionally, he is involved in academic editing for the Frontiers in Built Environment journal and actively participates in research related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly concerning sustainable development in engineering practices. Wu has led various research projects aimed at advancing the understanding of composite mechanics and structural integrity, particularly in relation to innovative composite materials and their applications in construction and engineering.
