Biography

Dr. Jackie Beard earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she also received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Additionally, she obtained a master’s degree in Counseling from Indiana University, Bloomington. Dr. Beard has extensive experience as a staff psychologist at UIUC’s McKinley Health Center, where she provided individual therapy and crisis services to university students. Her clinical interests focus on trauma healing, LGBTQIA+ identity development, addiction treatment, and graduate student concerns. She teaches courses such as EPSY 419, EPSY/PSYC 420, and EPSY 590 TH, where she advises and supervises master’s students and coordinates clinical placements.
