Jacky Castro Salgado completed studies as a dentist in 1986 and became an Endodontist in 1989 at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, Colombia. He worked part-time in a private practice from 1989 to 2002 while consulting as an Endodontist in a large private dental hospital. He has been a part-time Assistant Professor and Program Co-ordinator of a postgraduate endodontic training program at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and served as a Visiting Professor at Universidad Santo Tomas, Bucaramanga, Colombia. From 1997 to 2002, he was a Professor in the Postgraduate Endodontic Program under the Colombian Dentist Federation. He has also been a part-time Tutor for undergraduate and postgraduate training programs at UWA. Notably, he has held several leadership roles, including President of the Endodontic Society of Bogotá (1999-2003) and of the Australian Society of Endodontology (WA Branch) (2010-2012). He is a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentists, and has received recognition such as the “Outstanding Clinical Tutor” award in 2005. His research focuses on Endodontics, endodontic-periodontal diseases, and the effects of endodontic treatment.
