Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Jacky Stoeckli. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Jacqueline Stoeckli obtained her PhD from the University of Basel in 2003. Initially trained in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, and Biochemistry, she has studied protein trafficking and trafficking signals. In 2004, she joined Professor David James' group at the Garvan Institute in Sydney, where she focused on insulin-regulated protein trafficking, with a particular interest in GLUT4 vesicle trafficking and related proteins. In 2015, she was appointed as a Research Fellow at the Charles Perkins Centre, School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney. Her research group, 'Molecular Cell Biology,' expands on the James lab’s focus on insulin regulation of lipolysis. Her work elucidates how adipose tissue lipolysis is induced by fasting and catecholamines, identifying factors that activate lipolysis and the release of free fatty acids as energy sources for various tissues. Her research seeks to clarify gaps in understanding insulin regulation of lipolysis, particularly the detrimental consequences of unsuppressed lipolysis, which contributes to insulin resistance and fatty liver disease. Jacqueline's research aligns with the Faculty of Science Research Strengths related to understanding life, disease, and overall health and well-being throughout the lifespan.
