Dr. Jacob Comerci

Biography

Jacob Comerci is a designer educator and Managing Director of Academic Initiatives at Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Michigan. He holds a Master of Architecture from Princeton University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Jacob's work explores the intersection of architecture and collective life through interior design and furniture-scaled domestic equipment. He has worked with Bureau Spectacular in Chicago and Los Angeles, as well as LTL Architects in New York. Notably, he was awarded the William Muschenheim Fellowship at the University of Michigan and the Howard Crosby Butler traveling fellowship from Princeton for his academic and design excellence. Jacob has engaged in various research projects that analyze housing inequality in Detroit and has contributed to publications discussing racialized space. He teaches courses in Architectural Design and Urban Design at Taubman College, mentoring students through complex design challenges and fostering a rich learning environment.
