Jacob Currie is an Assistant Professor at the University of Cambridge in the Faculty of History. He specializes in medieval and Renaissance Latin literature and serves as a Fellow of Classics. Currie completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto (BA) and earned both his MPhil and PhD from Trinity College, Cambridge. Following his time at Cambridge, he held positions at the University of Oxford, the Institut de recherche et d’histoire des textes in Paris, and the British School at Rome, as well as a Junior Research Fellowship at Jesus College, Oxford. He returned to Cambridge in 2022 and is currently involved in editing works by Gerald of Wales, a prolific Anglo-Latin author of the late twelfth century, as part of the ‘Oxford Medieval Texts’ series. Currie's research interests include manuscripts, textual criticism, the evolution of the Latin language, and the syntax and style of Latin prose, particularly during the primary periods of Late Antiquity (circa 350–600) and the long twelfth century. He is open to hearing from students wishing to work in these areas and collaborates with Tania Demetriou and Andrew Taylor in convening the University’s Neo-Latin Seminar.
