Biography

Jacob Gallagher-Ross is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of English & Drama at the University of Toronto Mississauga. He is a graduate faculty member at the Centre for Drama, Theatre, and Performance Studies. Jacob is the author of 'Theaters Everyday' published by Northwestern University Press in 2018. He is a frequent contributor to various theater journals, with articles and essays published in Theatre Survey, TDR, PAJ, Theater, TheatreForum, and Canadian Theatre Review. His article 'Mediating Method', published in Theatre Survey in 2015, won the American Theatre Drama Society's 2016 Vera Mowry Roberts Award for the year’s best article. He has served as a contributing editor for Yale's journal Theater, where he worked on special issues focusing on digital dramaturgies and new media. Jacob has collaborated on various projects, including a fifty-episode web series produced by Crash Course and PBS Digital. He has also published extensively in Village Voice’s theater section, providing more than 120 reviews. Additionally, he has worked as a dramaturg for the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, contributing to numerous productions. His selected publications include 'Twilight Idols', published by Duke University Press in 2020.
