Jacob Gunderson is an Associate Senior Lecturer at the University of Gothenburg. He defended his dissertation in January 2023 on Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Gothenburg, working on the ERC-funded INTRAPARTY project led by Professor Ann-Kristin Kölln. He is also a Visiting Research Fellow at the European University Institute under the ERC Advanced Grant TRANSNATIONAL, led by Liesbet Hooghe and Gary Marks, in Winter 2024. Jacob holds a BA in Political Science with minors in German, Political Economy, and European Studies from Carleton College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his MA in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019. Jacob's research interests focus on party competition in developed democracies, party systems, inequality, intraparty politics, and political behavior. His work has been published in several academic journals, including the British Journal of Political Science, Political Behavior, and the European Journal of Political Research.
