Dr. Jacob Jaremko

Biography

Jacob Jaremko is a pediatric musculoskeletal radiologist and Professor at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, where he holds the Canada CIFAR AI Chair. He obtained a combined MD-PhD from the University of Calgary and completed residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Alberta. He furthered his expertise through clinical fellowships in Pediatric Radiology at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, and in Musculoskeletal Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, USA. Jacob has been involved in deep learning research since 1999, focusing on the application of genetic algorithms and neural networks for medical imaging. His main research interests include pediatric musculoskeletal development, adult arthritis, and employing artificial intelligence to automate image analysis, particularly in ultrasound imaging. He is actively researching using deep learning for medical image analysis and is focused on developing semi-quantitative and quantitative imaging techniques for arthritis. Jacob is affiliated with the NIDUS lab, contributing to advancements in medical imaging and therapeutic practices.
