Dr. Jacob Levy

Biography

Jacob Levy is the Tomlinson Professor of Political Theory at McGill University. He specializes in contemporary normative political theory, focusing on multiculturalism, nationalism, liberalism, pluralism, theories of justice, and non-ideal theory. His historical interests include medieval and early modern thought, particularly the French, Scottish, and American Enlightenments, as well as the history of constitutionalist liberal thought. His legal scholarship has delved into constitutional theory concerning rights of indigenous peoples, federalism, and freedom of association. He has coordinated several research groups and served on the editorial boards of prominent journals including the American Political Science Review. Levy has organized conferences on topics ranging from political theory to federalism and has delivered keynote lectures at various universities.
