Biography

Jacob Schumacher is a Senior Research Associate at the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group within the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford. He completed his PhD in Finance Management at SOAS, University of London, in 2016. Jacob has previously served as a Teaching Fellow in Finance at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, from 2016 to 2019, and as an Early Career Teaching and Research Fellow in Economics at St Edmund Hall from 2019 to 2022. His research interests lie in the fields of climate finance, sustainable finance, corporate governance, internationalization of financial institutions, and international political economy, particularly concerning China. Currently, Jacob is involved in projects aimed at accelerating the transition to renewable energy and studying the impact of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria on sustainability disclosures and international financial flows. He is also focused on developing effective stewardship strategies for institutional investors in shareholder engagement.
