Jacob N. Shapiro is the John Foster Dulles Professor of International Affairs at Princeton University. He co-founded the Empirical Studies of Conflict Project, a multi-university consortium that studies politically motivated violence across various countries. Shapiro leads Princeton’s Accelerator Initiative, partnering with institutions across four continents to enhance scientific research infrastructures within the information environment. He was awarded the 2016 Karl Deutsch Award by the International Studies Association, recognizing his significant contributions to the study of international relations. Shapiro has also provided consultation to government agencies, NGOs, and technology companies on a variety of topics. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science and an M.A. in Economics from Stanford University, as well as a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan. He is also a veteran of the United States Navy.
