Jacob Wise is a lecturer in Jazz Guitar at the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin. A native of Austin, Texas, Wise studied at both the University of Texas at Austin and the University of North Texas, earning his Master of Music in Jazz Studies. He was a member of the renowned O'Clock Lab Band and served as a graduate teaching fellow. Wise has also studied at ESMUC in Barcelona and participated in the Antonio Sanchez Jazz Residencia in Mexico City. He has engaged in private study and attended masterclasses with notable musicians including Adam Rogers, Peter Bernstein, Lage Lund, and Dave Stryker. His original music has been recorded in albums like 'Paseo' with the Jacob Wise Trio, which is available on Bandcamp. He has performed with many of Austin's top jazz musicians and spent four years performing with a show band aboard Princess Cruises, experiencing a diverse range of musical styles in thirty countries. In addition to his role at UT, he teaches guitar lessons in jazz ensembles at Austin Community College and maintains a busy private teaching studio. His previous teaching positions include Temple College and Huston-Tillotson University.
