Biography

Jacob O. Wobbrock is a Professor in the Information School and the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington. He directs the Accessible Computing and Experience (ACE) Lab and is a founding co-director of the CREATE Center. His research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), exploring how to improve the interaction experiences for users, particularly those with disabilities. He has co-authored approximately 180 peer-reviewed papers, receiving 25 paper awards, and has made significant contributions to areas such as accessible computing, input techniques, mobile computing, and interaction design. Wobbrock's research has been recognized by awards from ACM SIGCHI and SIGACCESS, among others, and he was inducted into the prestigious CHI Academy. He has served on the editorial board of the ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction and has received numerous grants from the National Science Foundation. Wobbrock received his B.S. in Symbolic Systems and M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University, followed by a Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University, where he was awarded the Distinguished Dissertation Award. His entrepreneurial ventures include co-founding AnswerDash, and he has been involved in many consulting and research projects focusing on accessible technology.
