Dr. Jacqueline Hicks

Biography

Jacqueline Milton Hicks is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at Boston University School of Public Health. She teaches a variety of courses, including Quantitative Methods in Public Health and Introduction to Biostatistics. Her research interests include the impacts of structural racism on health outcomes, particularly within the context of Alzheimer's disease and respiratory infections. She is also a co-Director for the Epidemiology Biostatistics Certificate program and actively engages in educational innovations, focusing on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within her teaching. Hicks has been awarded numerous teaching honors, including the BUSPH Outstanding Teaching Award. She has served as a co-Principal Investigator for projects aimed at promoting interest in Biostatistics among students, particularly those from low-income backgrounds. Additionally, she collaborates with researchers on various significant projects, including the examination of genetic factors related to sickle cell disease. Hicks makes substantial contributions to teaching and research in the field of Biostatistics, with a focus on integrating DEI principles into public health education.
