Biography

Jacqueline Kirtley studies how strategy technology evolve in early stage entrepreneurial firms developing revolutionary disruptive technologies. She employs multi-year longitudinal field studies to examine hard-science startups in energy cleantech, robotics, and medical devices, focusing on the interactions of scientists and engineers as they found firms with the support of public and private organizations. Professor Kirtley is co-organizer of the Wharton Technology Innovation Conference and holds a representative-at-large position in the Knowledge & Innovation Interest Group of the Strategic Management Society. With a doctorate in Strategy & Innovation from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, she also has a Bachelor of Science from MIT in Ocean Engineering and a Master of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. She received her MBA with high honors from Boston University. Prior to her academic career, she taught science and engineering demonstrations at the Museum of Science in Boston.
