Jacques deLisle’s research and teaching focus on contemporary Chinese law and politics, legal reform, and the relationship between economic reform and political change in China. He examines a range of international issues including Taiwan and cross-Strait relations, China’s engagement with the international order, and legal and political matters in Hong Kong under Chinese rule, as well as U.S.-China relations. His writings cover a variety of subjects and have appeared in international relations journals, edited volumes, and multidisciplinary scholarship, particularly in Asian studies journals and law reviews. DeLisle is a professor of political science, serving as the director of the Center for the Study of Contemporary China and co-director of the Center for Asian Law. He also directs the Asia Program at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, and has served as an expert witness on issues of People’s Republic of China law and government policies, as well as a consultant and lecturer on legal reform and education program development in China.
