Biography

Jacques Eduardo is the Dean of the School of Dentistry at the University of Michigan and holds the Donald Kerr Collegiate Professorship in Dentistry. He is also a Professor in the Department of Cariology, Restorative Science, and Endodontics and serves in the Otolaryngology-Head Neck Surgery division at the Medical School. His extensive experience includes serving as the President-Elect of the American Association for Dental Research and the immediate past-chair of the Section on Dentistry for the Oral Health Sciences Association of the Advancement of Sciences. Jacques has contributed significantly to the National Institutes of Health as a chair and member of the Oral, Dental, and Craniofacial Sciences study section. He is a principal investigator of NIH grants and co-director of the University of Michigan Head and Neck SPORE, which is funded by the National Cancer Institute. His research interests are primarily focused on salivary gland malignancies and cancer stemness, with current projects exploring the pathobiology of cancer stem cells in head and neck squamous cell carcinomas and salivary gland cancer. He also investigates the mechanisms regulating mesenchymal stem cell differentiation within the context of tissue engineering.
