Jacques Michelet joined the University of Geneva in 2009, completing a PhD in Geography focused on changing paradigms in Swiss regional policy. He works as a lecturer in economic geography, territorial economy, and territorial policies utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS). His teaching activities emphasize applied research results in the areas of territorial research and policy design. His special interest is in territorial development in mountain areas, where he is part of the expert team in charge of the Federal strategy for mountain regions and rural areas in Switzerland. Additionally, he works as an independent consultant on projects related to spatial planning and cross-border cooperation in regional development.
