Jacques Sluysmans studied in Leiden, Paris, and Brussels. He conducted research in Ithaca (NY) and Stellenbosch and obtained his doctorate in 2011 in Leiden with a dissertation titled ‘The Vitality of Compensation Law in Expropriation Cases: A Study of Theory and Practice’. He actively participates as a binding advisor and (NAI) arbitrator, serves as chairman of the damage commission of Zuydasdok, is chairman of both the Association for Construction Law and the Association for Expropriation Law, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Association for Young Real Estate Jurists and the International Expert Group on Expropriation.
