Biography

Jacquie Ripat is a professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Manitoba’s College of Rehabilitation Sciences, serving as Vice-Dean of Academic Affairs for the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and Associate Dean of Research. Her research focuses on the interaction between individuals with disabilities and their use of assistive technology to facilitate community engagement and enhance inclusion throughout the lifespan. Dr. Ripat employs qualitative, participatory, and mixed-methods approaches to explore how assistive technology can improve occupational participation and support individuals with disabilities. Her work is strengthened by interdisciplinary collaborations with colleagues in engineering, nursing, physical therapy, architecture, interior design, and library science. Dr. Ripat is actively involved in research organizations, including the Centre on Aging at the University of Manitoba, ENRRICH, and the Manitoba Centre for Nursing and Health Research. Currently, she is accepting master's and PhD students who are interested in her research areas.
