Jae-Young Cho is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta and a Senior Research Officer at the National Research Council Canada’s Quantum & Nanotechnology Research Centre. He obtained his Ph.D. from McGill University, where he studied the effects of microstructure and texture on the reliability of nano-scaled copper damascene interconnects. Since joining NRC-NANO in 2005, Cho has been involved in developing new characterization methods for soft nanomaterials using advanced microscopic and spectroscopic techniques. His expertise encompasses nano-characterization and he is actively engaged in collaborative research projects with universities and industries. With over 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, he has been recognized with the Research Excellence Award from NRC-NANO twice in 2019 and 2022. His current research focuses on in-situ characterization methods for nanomaterials, particularly in the realms of carbon capture utilization storage (CCUS) and hydrogen projects.
