Jaesung (Peter) Choi is a lecturer and group leader at the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. His major research focus is understanding the molecular metabolic mechanisms that drive endothelial cell malformation and their implications in vascular diseases, such as malformations and cancers. He aims to identify novel therapies for these conditions and has published numerous papers in high-impact journals including Nature, Science Advances, the Journal of Experimental Medicine, and PLoS Biology. Dr. Choi completed his PhD on endocrine-related cancers at the University of Sydney in 2016, where his research investigated the role of androgens and androgen receptors in endometrial, breast, and prostate cancers. Following his doctorate, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Vascular Biology program at the Centenary Institute from 2016 to 2019, focusing on therapeutic targets in cardiovascular diseases like cerebral cavernous malformation. In 2020, he was awarded the prestigious UTS Chancellor’s Research Fellowship to lead a Cardiovascular Stroke research program at the UTS Centenary Centre for Inflammation, before establishing his own research group at UNSW Sydney in early 2025.
