Biography

Jago Strong-Wright is a PhD student in the Ocean Dynamics group at the University of Cambridge, supervised by Professor John Taylor. His research focuses on quantifying the fate of carbon in blue carbon systems, particularly in kelp forests, and how these ecosystems enhance carbon sequestration. Strong-Wright is involved in projects exploring the physics and biogeochemical interactions that affect carbon sequestration in kelp forests. He is also contributing to OceanBioME.jl, a flexible environment modelling project, as well as to Oceananigans.jl, a Julia software optimized for fluid dynamics on CPUs and GPUs. His work aims to provide insights into biological systems and their impacts on the broader ocean carbon cycle.
