Dr. Jahangir Khan

Biography

Jahangir Khan is a Professor of Health Economics at the University of Gothenburg. He has a basic education in Economics and completed his PhD at Karolinska Institutet with a focus on Health Systems Research and Health Economics. With extensive experience in research and academia, Khan has worked with a range of institutions including Karolinska Institutet and icddr,b in Bangladesh, where he served as an International Scientist and led the Health Economics Unit at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. His primary research interests include Health Technology Assessments, Universal Health Coverage, healthcare financing, and health econometrics. Khan is particularly focused on evaluating health systems and assessing the impact of health interventions in low- and middle-income countries. He has authored numerous publications on topics such as the economic burden of healthcare in Bangladesh and the effective implementation of health insurance schemes. His goal is to build research capacity and evaluate healthcare systems to promote equitable access and quality of care.
