Biography

My lifelong fascination has been with ‘shapes’, particularly in how specific shapes are often linked to specific functions within biological systems. My research has centered around the mechanisms of morphogenesis in plants. After obtaining a Ph.D. in Botany in India in 1992, I pursued research in Hungary and joined the Max-Planck Institute in Germany, focusing on Arabidopsis Molecular Genetics. During my tenure there, I contributed to the molecular-genetic identification of Brassinosteroids and was among the first to implement Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) techniques in plant research. My research continue to evolve under esteemed mentors, leading to significant findings about the plant cytoskeleton's role in morphogenesis. As a faculty member at the University of Guelph, my lab investigates the cellular and molecular basis of plant morphogenesis, utilizing advanced imaging techniques. I actively participate in scientific communities and serve on editorial boards for several respected journals.
