Biography

Jake Barralet obtained his BEng (Hons) from Leeds and his PhD from the University of London. He has completed postdoctoral studies at Tokyo Dental and Medical University and began his academic career at the University of Birmingham. He currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Surgery and holds a joint appointment with the Faculty of Dentistry at McGill University, where he also functions as the Vice Chair (Research) and Research Director in the Division of Orthopaedics. His areas of expertise include material-mediated tissue regeneration, particularly focusing on the effects of inorganic ions in the regeneration of bone and skin. He directs the Innovation at the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning and is involved in various research projects related to regenerative medicine and bioceramics. Delegating his responsibilities also include overseeing graduate supervision for students in M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs.
