Dr. Jakob Edler

Biography

Professor Jakob Edler specializes in Innovation Policy and Strategy at the Alliance Manchester Business School. He serves as the Executive Director at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research. His career spans significant roles including Executive Director at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research, which is recognized as the largest academic center in this field globally, and Head of the Department of Innovation Systems Policy at the Fraunhofer Institute. His research focuses on the analysis and governance of science and innovation policy, with an emphasis on the dynamics of socio-technical systems. He has led several EU-funded projects, including the SIPER initiative that assesses science policy practices. Edler's educational background includes a PhD in Political Science and multiple Master’s degrees. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in various influential committees and editorial boards, contributing to the dialogue on research and innovation governance at a national and international level.
