Professor Dr. Jakob Mechler

Biography

Jakob Mechler is a licensed psychologist and psychotherapist, as well as a certified specialist in psychological treatment and psychotherapy recognized by the Swedish Psychological Association. He currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Uppsala University. His primary research interest focuses on psychological treatments for psychiatric disorders. He has collaboratively developed internet-delivered psychodynamic treatment, which has been evaluated in contexts such as adolescent depression and adult social anxiety disorder, as well as in transdiagnostic treatment for adults suffering from anxiety and/or depression. Ongoing research studies investigate the efficacy of these treatments across various countries, including Germany, Norway, Sweden, and England. His work often occurs in naturalistic settings and examines the impacts of affect-focused psychodynamic treatments on young adult patients with psychiatric disorders receiving specialized care.
