Biography

Jalnidh Kaur joined the University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School in August 2024 as a development economist specializing in topics within the economics of education. Her work draws insights from psychology and behavioral economics to understand the informational and behavioral barriers that shape human capital investments. She leverages psychosocial tools to help individuals overcome adversity in low-income settings. Kaur's ongoing projects span countries such as India, Pakistan, and Kenya, where she utilizes randomized controlled trials to address pertinent questions relevant to policy making. She earned her PhD in Economics of Education from Columbia University, an MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, and a BA (Hons) in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. Before commencing her doctoral studies, Jalnidh worked as a research associate at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) South Asia and taught high-school economics at Akal Academies in India.
