Biography

James Adair received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Florida. He was a Fulbright Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Western Australia, studying the biophysical chemistry origins of pathological biomineralization, particularly human kidney stone disease. Adair has been a faculty member since 1990 and has held research positions at the Battelle Memorial Institute and the Materials Research Laboratory at Penn State. He is a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society and has been actively involved in research collaboration across multiple disciplines. His work focuses on 2D materials and colloidal chemistry, with current research thrusts including nanomedical applications and drug delivery systems. He has authored or co-authored 185 publications and holds twelve patents. Adair has co-edited ten books on materials characterization techniques and has chaired numerous symposia in materials chemistry.
