Biography

James Agarwal is the inaugural UCalgary Research Excellence Chair (Tier 1) and a Full Professor in Marketing at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary, Canada. He earned his PhD in Marketing with a minor in Statistics from Georgia Tech in 1993. Agarwal has previously held significant academic positions, including Haskayne Research Professorship from 2018 to 2021, and has contributed extensively to the field with 75 publications in major refereed journals, book chapters, and proceedings. His research interests span various aspects of marketing, including International Marketing, Consumer Psychology, Relationship Marketing, and Statistical Methods. Furthermore, Agarwal has co-edited special issues for the Journal of Business Research and received several prestigious awards for his contributions to the field of marketing, including the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and the William R. Darden Paper Award in Research Methodology. He enjoys teaching across multiple levels, including Undergraduate and PhD courses in International Marketing, Consumer Behavior, and Marketing Research.
