Dr. James Anderson

Biography

James Anderson is the Philip S. Weld Professor at Harvard University in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. His research group, the Anderson Group, focuses on advancements in atmospheric chemistry using various innovative technologies including lasers, lidars, radars, and hyperspectral imaging. The group conducts significant studies in gas-phase kinetics involving free radicals, as well as the catalytic processes that control atmospheric change and ozone depletion. Notably, he leads high-altitude experiments using balloons and aircraft, alongside developing laser systems for both stratospheric and tropospheric investigations. Additionally, his research includes pioneering the use of high-altitude, long-duration unmanned aircraft for studies on global climate change.
