Dr. James Arrighi

Biography

James Arrighi is a Professor Emeritus of Medicine and Medical Science at Brown University, where he has made significant contributions to the field of nuclear cardiology. He completed his medical training at Brown University, earning his MD in 1987 after receiving an ScB in 1984. Following his education, Dr. Arrighi underwent residency training in Internal Medicine at Barnes Hospital, Washington University, from 1987 to 1989, and completed fellowships at the National Institutes of Health and Yale University from 1989 to 1994. In 1994, he joined the faculty at Yale, engaging in clinical research focused on nuclear cardiology until 2004, when he transitioned to Brown University. At Brown, he became the Director of the Nuclear Cardiology Program at Rhode Island Hospital and served as the Program Director for the Cardiology Fellowship until 2015. He has actively participated in various professional organizations, holding leadership positions such as Past President of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and serving on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Arrighi is particularly interested in medical education and has held key roles in overseeing clinical residencies and fellowships within the Lifespan health system. His research interests center around graduate medical education and the clinical applications of nuclear imaging techniques.
