Biography

Professor James N. Baron is the William S. Beinecke Professor at the Yale School of Management. His extensive research interests encompass human resources, organizational design behavior, social stratification and inequality, labor markets, careers, economic sociology, and entrepreneurial companies. Joining Yale in 2006, he previously instructed at Stanford's Graduate School of Business from 1982 to 2006, teaching the MBA core course in Human Resource Management. Professor Baron co-directed the Stanford Project on Emerging Companies (SPEC), a large-scale longitudinal study investigating organizational design and human resource management practices in entrepreneurial firms in Silicon Valley. His work has been published in numerous leading disciplinary journals, and he received the 2003 Accenture Award for his project overview published in the California Management Review. Additionally, he is the co-author of the textbook 'Strategic Human Resources: Frameworks for General Managers' along with economist David M. Kreps, contributing regularly to prominent sociology and organization journals such as the American Sociological Review and Administrative Science Quarterly. His research is notably recognized within influential journals focused on economics and social psychology.
