Biography

James Blackwell, a proud Wiradyuri man from Boorowa, regional NSW, is a Research Fellow in Indigenous Diplomacy at the Australian National University’s Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs and a PhD candidate within the Department of International Relations. His PhD research is centered on how Indigenous Nations' peoples understand, practice, and participate in diplomacy and international relations. James aims to advance Indigenous knowledge and perspectives in policy and higher education, addressing the historic exclusion of Indigenous voices to foster greater community presence. He is a member of the Uluru Dialogue at UNSW and has campaigned to support the Uluru Statement from the Heart, working extensively in regional NSW, Victoria, and the ACT on the referendum campaign set for 2023.
