James Cheney is a Personal Chair in Programming Languages Systems at the Laboratory for Foundations of Computer Science, University of Edinburgh. His research interests include databases, programming languages, compilers, generic programming, logic, automated theorem proving, and compression. Cheney held a Royal Society University Research Fellowship from October 2008 to December 2016 and worked as a postdoctoral research associate in the Database Group from September 2004 to October 2008.
