Biography

James H. Cox is the Jane Roland Blumberg Centennial Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, specializing in twentieth and twenty-first century American literature with a focus on Native American literature and popular culture. He has published numerous articles and book chapters and has authored books such as 'Red Land South: American Indian Writers and Indigenous Mexico' and 'Political Arrays: American Indian Literary History.' Cox co-edited the 'Oxford Handbook of Indigenous American Literature,' which won the MLA Prize for Studies in Native American Literatures, Languages, and Cultures in 2015. He has presented at various conferences, including the University of New Mexico's Indigenous Book Festival and the University of Oklahoma's Native Crossroads Film Festival Symposium. He has received multiple teaching awards, including the Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award, and was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Teachers in 2017. His teaching interests include courses on Native American literature and modernism. Cox has also served on editorial boards and was co-editor of 'Texas Studies in Literature and Language.'
