Dr. James Desimpelare

Biography

James M. Desimpelare is a Lecturer at the University of Michigan Law School, where he specializes in financial accounting and taxation courses, including Advanced Financial Accounting and Advanced Federal Income Taxation. He is dedicated to teaching and has received awards for his outstanding teaching performances at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to his teaching role, Desimpelare is actively involved in student community activities, serving as a faculty advisor for the National Association of Black Accountants and mentoring the University of Michigan Tax Challenge team. He also acts as a faculty liaison for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. His professional experience includes consulting and conducting corporate seminars as well as preparing candidates for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination. Desimpelare has been a member of the Michigan Association of CPAs and the American Taxation Association. Before joining the University of Michigan faculty, he taught at Indiana University and worked as a fixed income security analyst for Conseco, Inc., and as a tax consultant at Ernst & Young.
